The giant Poké ball in Casey, Illinois was built by Jim Bolin, the man behind most of the other big versions of things in town. The 5-foot wide ball is made of salvaged steel and weighs 1,500 pound. It holds up to four people (and a stuffed Pikachu) for fun selfies.
It was unveiled on April 10, 2021 inside Tee Shirt Connection downtown (look for the business near the big pencil and world’s largest barbershop pole).
Like most of the big things in Casey, it is inscribed with an appropriate bible verse: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” (1 Corinthians 3:19 NIV)
