Joints feeling a little rusty after sitting in a car all day? Here’s a stop where you can stretch your legs, check out some interesting customers, take some photos, and do some shopping. The Rusty Bolt in Seligman, Arizona is a popular stop on Route 66 for road trippers and bikers. You might even meet a new friend.
The Rusty Bolt is one of the most unique stops in Seligman. Established in 1997, it was originally an antique store but later converted into a gift shop. Prior to that, the building was two separate buildings: the 1933 Miller’s Dry Cleaners and the old Thunderbird Indian Store.
The Road Trip Journal & Activity Book
Enjoy fun games and challenges to pass the time on your next road trip and have a keepsake to look back on for years to come with this entertaining must-have for your next vacation.
Whether you arrive by car, tour bus, or motorcycle, you’ll right away notice the a crowd formed outside of the shop. There are always people gathered around, both on the porch and on the roof. But if you look closely you will realize those aren’t real people at all, they are mannequins.
These dummies make fun photo partners but aren’t that great at conversations. They are conversation starters though. You’ll also find fun signs and a Route 66 mural outside. The store is also known for the photo ops with its pink Ford Edsel automobile out front, but that wasn’t there when I came by.
Inside, the gift shop features Route 66 and Americana-related merchandise along with leather and biking gear. Plus you can grab a free cup of coffee to keep you going the rest of the day on the road.
While visiting Seligman be sure to also visit these other must-see Arizona Route 66 attractions: the Seligman Grocery Mural, Delgadillo’s Snow Cap, Copper Cart and Route 66 Motoporium, Angel & Vilma Delgadillo’s Original Route 66 Gift Shop, and Roadkill Cafe.
