Tucked into the George M. Reed Roadside Park in the heart of the Ozarks, this one-of-a-kind roadside attraction is a love letter to the golden days of neon-lit motels, drive-ins, diners, and garages that once lined the Show Me State’s stretch of the Mother Road.

Route 66 Neon Park is the first of its kind in Missouri, showcasing nearly a dozen vintage neon signs that once lit up businesses from St. Louis to Joplin. Each sign was rescued from fading into obscurity, lovingly restored, and set up to shine like it did back in its heyday. These aren’t just pretty pieces of glowing glass, they’re time capsules, each with a story told on on-site storyboards (coming soon) that’ll illuminate your understanding as much as the signs illuminate your eyes.
The project is a result of tireless work by preservation heroes like Friends of the Mother Road, Inc., Missouri State Parks, the Route 66 Association of Missouri, and countless other Route 66 enthusiasts who wanted to make sure that while the road goes ever on, the glow goes on with it.
The park hosted its official lighting ceremony on Friday, May 9, 2025, and now you can experience this neon park for yourself.

Route 66 Neon Park Sign
At the entrance to the park, you’ll find the first neon sign—though this one is not vintage, it is brand new! This sign proudly displays “Welcome to St. Robert Route 66 Neon Park” with a bright red arrow pointing the way inside.
The Al-Pac Motel Sign
Once glowing east of Pacific, Missouri, this sign invited travelers to the “Home of Good Food.” Saved by the Route 66 Association of Missouri and passed along by Missouri State Parks, it now serves up a hot plate of nostalgia at Neon Park.
Alura Motel Sign
With its ultra-rare “triple stroke” lettering, this sign was the shining beacon of a motel built in the late 1940s near St. Louis. It found a loving home at Henry’s Rabbit Ranch for over a decade before bouncing into Neon Park with help from Friends of the Mother Road, Inc.
D & G Liquor Sign
Originally lighting up St. Robert until 2009, this sign was saved and restored by Greg and Jolanta Chmura and later donated to the park. It was the first to glow again locally and is now back where it belongs.
Modern Cabins Sign
Located just a short drive from the park itself, the Modern Cabins sign once topped a roof at 515 Ole Route 66. Stored in a garage for decades, it came out of retirement in 2015 to shine on travelers once again.
Motel St. Louis Sign
Also called the “Motel Beautiful,” this sign once advertised 44 ultra-modern units and airport shuttle service. Thanks to the Route 66 Association of Missouri and the Missouri History Museum, it now lights up Route 66 Neon Park after years in storage.
Scully’s Restaurant & Motel Sign
Coming Soon
Originally Scully’s Sunset Inn in St. Clair, this sign was modified by the Scully sons and eventually saved from oblivion. After years of neglect, it’s back on its feet and glowing proudly.
Skyline Garage Auto Service Sign
A more recent addition, this St. Robert sign comes from a beloved local auto service business. The city of St. Robert acquired and restored the sign in 2023, showing that even modern history deserves to shine.
Stanley Cour Tel Sign
Not your average roadside motel—this one housed astronauts from Project Mercury! Built in 1950 in St. Louis, this out-of-this-world sign was preserved thanks to a donation from Dr. Joel Braunstein and Friends of the Mother Road, Inc.
Tri-State Bonding Sign
Because nothing says “get outta jail free” like neon! This Carthage, Missouri sign features a cheeky jailbird cartoon that’s been a favorite for Route 66 photo ops. Now it’s out on good behavior and glowing again in Neon Park.
