When Beach Avenue BBQ was preparing to open they know they had to do something to make sure they stood out to all the drivers who are just trying to merge.
Owners Christopher Chin and Juan Silva took note from another business in town: Tony’s Family Restaurant (formerly Papa Vini Restaurant, Brookfield Restaurant, and Nicholson’s Pub), and the cow on its roof that has stood as a landmark in town for decades.
As a pork-centric barbecue joint, a giant pig just made sense. So the 3-foot by 5-foot red fiberglass pig was hoisted up on their roof to call attention to drivers in January 2020. The move caused a little controversy as the local village code prohibits rooftop business signs but they were eventually approved for an exception.
