When you’re on a road trip, stopping at a pharmacy usually isn’t part of the plan, but Monarch Pharmacy & Soda Fountain in Baxter Springs, Kansas, is an exception worth making.
Just like back in the day, this unique spot serves double duty: it is both a full-service pharmacy and a nostalgic soda fountain. Although the business gives off pure vintage charm, Monarch actually opened in 2015, making it a relatively new addition to Route 66 with an old-school feel.
