This roadside attraction might be a shoo-in for best attraction in Casey, Illinois: the World’s Largest Wooden Shoes.
These big wooden shoes measure 11 feet, 5 inches long by 5 feet 10 inches wide and 4 feet 10 inches tall. The pair was created by Jim Bolin (the man responsible for all of Casey’s world’s largest things). To make the giant clogs, he glued wooden boards together, then shaped and carved them with a chainsaw and hand sanders.
Each wooden shoe weighs over 1,500 pounds and can fit fifteen people (though you’re encouraged not to climb in). The world’s largest clogs were verified by Guinness World Records on October 20, 2015.
Like all Casey, Illinois roadside attractions, this one is adorned with an appropriate Bible scripture. This one from Ephesians 6:15: Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with preparedness of the gospel of peace.
World’s largest clogs? I’d say that’s quite a feat!
