The mural is painted in the style of a vintage postcard with the town name “KINGMAN” filled in with imagery popular to the town. Inside the letters you’ll find renderings of the El Trovatore Motel, Hotel Beale, a motorcycle, and a 1950 Studebaker.

The mural was designed to mimic large letter linen postcards that were popular in the 1930s, 1940s and early 1950s. Scenic wonders and local landmarks selected for inclusion include the El Trovatore Motel and Hotel Beale. To enhance the period appearance vintage vehicles were added to the mural including the 1950 Studebaker on display in the Route 66 Museum at the Powerhouse Visitor Center.
JC Amberlyn is an acclaimed artist, author, photographer, and animator. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Arizona Game and Fish Department Outdoor Writer of the Year in 2008, the Women Making History in The Arts award, and recognition as a photojournalist for the Kingman Daily Miner.
