Silly America…ABROAD!

Silly America Abroad: Roadside Attractions from Around the World

Since 2007 I’ve been traveling the country with Silly America in search of some of the biggest and weirdest and craziest things out there…I’ve seen everything from the World’s Largest Pecan to a giant roller skate to a rotating ear of corn. I’ve put over 30,000 miles on my car driving to Mount Rushmore, to Virginia, all around Illinois and Missouri and so many other states. I’ve gone to Alaska (albeit a tiny town in Alaska with nothing in it…). And while I still have so much more of this country to see, there’s a whole new adventure in my near future…

Silly America is going abroad!

One month from today I’m hopping on a plane to spend Independance Day watching people stuff their faces with as many hot dogs as they possibly can in the sweltering heat of Coney Island. (Is there anything more American than that?) And a few days after that I’m heading off to travel the world! Where will I go? I have no idea. How long will I be gone? I have no idea!

The plan is to have no plan!

OK, so the real plan is to take off to Berlin, spend about 3 to 4 months in Europe then maybe head to Southeast Asia then maybe head to Australia and spend somewhere between three months to a year traveling. I leave in a month, you’d think I’d have this all figured out by now, wouldn’t ya?

So what does this mean for Silly AMERICA? Well, I’m taking Silly America abroad with me, and will be seeking out some of the weirdest and wackiest and craziest things I can find anywhere I find them! And, believe me, us Americans don’t hold the monopoly on the weird. Just check out this giant thumb in Paris!

I’ll still be bringing you more archival photos and info on American roadside attractions…but I’ll also be covering crazy things I find in Europe, Asia…and wherever the heck else I end up!

So stay tuned for more of my crazy adventures…it’s a silly world out there after all! (And don’t worry…I have some amazing road trip plans in the works when I get back…so Silly America will be even sillier than ever!)
