That popularity sparked the idea that maybe a more lasting solution should take its place.

Legacy Signs was commissioned to create the structure and the permanent Route 66 Drive-Thru Shield was dedicated outside the Kingman Powerhouse Visitor Center on July 24, 2021 (National Drive-Thru Day). The roadside attraction was unveiled in a dedication and inaugural lighting ceremony followed by classic-car show participants lined up to drive through and christen it.

The Route 66 Drive-Thru Shield in Kingman, Arizona allows cars (under eight feet and without trailers) to drive a loop and go under and through the classic Route 66 shield. After sunset it gets even better when the neon lights illuminate the outline.
