They were quick photos. Late at night. We were taking a day road trip around Chicagoland looking for the best roadside attractions in Chicago and this was one of the final stops: the giant Indian muffler man on the roof of an eye clinic wearing a sandwich board that declares “Eye Can See You Now”. There were cops nearby and we didn’t want to feed a meter. So we hopped out of the car, snapped a few shots, hopped back in the car and drove off to our next destination…
This Indian Muffler Man (also known as the Eye Care Indian) wears prescription glasses (not to be confused with the Big Chief Indian roadside attraction in nearby Oak Lawn) and advertises Midwest Eye Clinic Chicago. the Chicago roadside attraction was made famous in the 1992 movie Wayne’s World when he was featured in the Bohemian Rhapsody scene (along with The Spindle).
